The best that Thailand has to offer, Koh Phi Phi 2/2023 (Stop 2)

7-8 Feb 2023 From Krabi, the next destination was another island group, the largest of which was Koh Phi Phi, 2 hours boat ride away. I climbed to the top of a hill to see 2 beaches of stunning water almost come together, separated by only a narrow causeway. In the late afternoon, the glorious day would start to wind down, the tide receded, and the sea at the Loh Dalum Beach revealed its bottom. Soft and flat, it provided the floor to unwind, and to stroll further out to sea.

A half-day island hopping tour was the highlight. Many of the beaches on this island group were only accessible by boat. Pileh Lagoon on Koh Phi Phi Leh Island, one of the small islands of this island group, was a happy crowded place. So many of the eager boats all wanted to get in through the inlet. Once in, the boats were parked next to a cliff face, and everyone turned into children, having fun diving from the boats. It was one big pool party. It was a great time. I was stunned by the sheer number of boats ravaging this pristine sanctuary.

The creme de la creme was Maya Beach. The boat drove to the backside of the beach, and we then walked for 15 minutes to reach the beach. It was too beautiful and delicate to swim in. We were given only 15 minutes on the beach before returning to the boat pier. Too many boats waiting their turn to have a glimpse.
