How I Explored the Largest Country in the World (Russia) Solo, by Train, in 30 Days – Moscow/Sergiev/Posad (7)

4-7/8/2019. Fellow travelers have expressed that St. Petersburg is more enjoyable than Moscow. I, however, find many things that intrigue me here. I could spend days wandering around Red Square, admiring its stately buildings and cathedrals, soaking up the aura of power and orthodoxy. Maybe I am just powerlessly power-hungry. The ill wind constantly blew, but I still enjoyed the space and the air. When the sun made a rare appearance, everything around became brighter, more vibrant; they put on a different coat of color, a cheery air. They do not have to build upward much; they already own the biggest chunk of the world’s land area. They love their earphones here. So when I asked for help, they quickly took them down, revealing their white teeth with a wide smile, helping even when their English is often limited. Moscow was cold, Muscovites were not.
