See the hot spots around The Balkans In 60 Days – Stop 15 Mostar, Bosnia

26/8/2018. Time to tear myself away from Croatia. After a three-hour bus ride, I arrived in Mostar of Bosnia, one of only a few countries in Europe with a significant Muslim population. I expected the color tone, the style, even the air would be noticeably different. Sure enough, the flamboyance and bubbliciousness of Croatia were no longer. Mostar is a small town, more conservative and low-key, less expressive. After the big blast of Croatia, a bit of winding down was welcomed. It was not good for me to be so pumped for too long.

Stari Most, also known as Mostar Bridge, is iconic. Like an encrusted ring, it arches high above the turquoise green waters of the Neretva River below. Shops and restaurants crowded along the river, connected by narrow cobbled streets, peeping over the edge, nestled among the green vegetation and under the protective stare of the mountains, standing behind like muscular bodyguards. It was a most photogenic spot minus the hubbub.
