See the hot spots around The Balkans In 60 Days – Stop 19 Komani Lake, Albania

4/9/2018. Hiking in the Albanian mountains was too much hard work, so I went the easy way, to visit Komani Lake with other tourists instead. We started off by bus at 6 a.m, and one and a half hours later we arrived at the boat departure point.

The water was smooth like a mirror, and the motorboat plowed ahead nonchalantly, surrounded by mountains. The boat appeared to be blocked by layers upon layers of mountains, with no way forward. As it happens often, as soon as we confronted the mountains, they gave way to a hidden waterway ushering us forward. Except for the sound of the motor, everything around was so calm and undisturbed.

After about an hour and a half, appearing before our eyes—voilà!—a hideout tucked away in the midst of the lush green, as it were, at the end of a cul-de-sac, an indescribable gemstone. The mountain water skimmed above the pebbles, each making the other sparkle. The greens were made greener by the glorious sun. It was so removed from civilization, so distant from any bother, so impeccable.
